Becky Harris is running for County Commission

Proven Leadership. Independent Vision. Real Results.

Becky Harris has dedicated her career to public service, problem-solving, and principled leadership. A former Nevada State Senator and Chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board — the first woman ever to hold that position — Becky built a reputation for fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Public service has never been about titles for Becky Harris. It has always been about people.

Long before serving in statewide leadership, Becky earned a reputation the old-fashioned way: by showing up. During her first campaign for the Nevada State Senate, she personally knocked on thousands of doors across Southwest Las Vegas, listening to friends (new and old) and neighbors talk about the challenges facing their communities.

That approach never changed.

As a Nevada State Senator, Becky built a record focused on practical results that improved everyday life for Nevada families. She helped secure record funding for Nevada schools, strengthened protections for vulnerable loved ones under guardianship laws, supported the legalization of rideshare services like Uber and Lyft, and worked to cut taxes for thousands of Nevada small businesses.

While serving in the Legislature, Becky recognized that few policymakers truly understood Nevada’s most important industry: gaming. She chose to become an expert. Rather than simply talk about the issues, she returned to school and earned her LL.M. in Gaming Law from UNLV’s Boyd School of Law.

That commitment to expertise and public trust led to her appointment as Chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board — becoming the first woman in Nevada history to hold the position.

As Chair, Becky helped lead Nevada through some of the most consequential moments in modern gaming regulation. From the legalization of marijuana and the expansion of sports wagering after the repeal of PASPA, Wire Act complexities and major workplace harassment issues within the gaming industry, Becky became known for steady leadership, professionalism, and integrity under pressure.

Today, Becky is widely recognized as an expert in gaming regulation and anti-money laundering compliance. She teaches law classes at UNLV, advises gaming and technology companies, and serves on the boards of gaming organizations shaping the future of the industry.

But for all the titles she has earned — Senator, Professor, Madam Chair — the titles that really matter are much simpler: wife, mom, and grandma.

Becky graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Political Science and French before earning her law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. After moving to Las Vegas in 1998, she continued her education at UNLV while building a life and raising a family in Southern Nevada.

As the wife of a U.S. Army servicemember, Becky spent years supporting her husband and family through military life in Tennessee and California while teaching near military bases and staying active in her community.

For more than two decades, Becky has also helped operate her family’s small businesses alongside her husband, Dr. Garth Harris. She understands firsthand the pressures small business owners face — from managing employees and meeting regulations to balancing budgets and navigating uncertainty.

Las Vegas is where Becky and Garth raised their two daughters. It is where their family built a life, built businesses, and built deep roots in the community they love.

Our future here in Southern Nevada is personal to Becky Harris.

This community gave her family opportunity, purpose, and a place to call home. She believes the next generation deserves the same chance to live safely, affordably, and successfully right here in the community we all love.

Becky’s vision for District F is simple — safe neighborhoods, honest government, and opportunity for all.

Today, she teaches at UNLV’s Boyd School of Law, mentoring the next generation of leaders and championing integrity in government. Becky is running for Clark County Commission District F as a non-partisan, because she believes in listening before leading — putting people and practical solutions ahead of politics.

Her record reflects results: reforming education, protecting seniors, improving government efficiency, and building trust in Nevada’s most vital industries
